The finished maquette of my viperfish-out-of-water, Theory. Bwahaha! I'm so very happy with this.
I really, really love sculpting. I should do it more often. This was sculpted out of Super Sculpey clay. The tubes of her breathing apparatus are made out of the cord of a cell-phone charger (my professor found it, and when I asked him where, he replied, "don't ask." Hmm....), and the metal pieces are just aluminum from a soda can.
I had so much fun making this. Of course, I also had a fair amount of hair-pulling stress, but such is life, yaknow? I believe I spent about 2 weeks on it, including the pre-sculpting design and armature work. There are probably a million pictures of this in every stage of progress, especially just before I baked her -- I was utterly convinced she'd explode in the oven.
Oh, and by the way -- since a number of people have asked what her real name is, and I can neither pronounce it nor type it, I thought I'd include it here to sate your curiosity. They use a lot of vowels underwater.
